The installation draws from artist Caterina Fake’s research into the mythic figures of Autonoë and Actæon, the magic boxes of Romanian surrealist Victor Brauner, Emily Dickinson’s death and volcano poems, and when people in documentaries have forgotten the camera is still rolling and blurt out the hidden truth. During her residency at Interact Studio, Fake will continue the work begun in her 2025 and 2026 installations Bed for Dreaming, gathering images dreamed, given, found and made, finding ways to leapfrog reality and free us from the discouragements of reason, irrelevancy, and the merchants of doom. Working at the crossroads of visual art, literature, technology and social practice, Fake seeks to liberate, beautify, and bewilder.
